The psychic industry is driven by the desire to know the future. Though there is no scientific evidence that supports the idea of psychic ability, desperate buyers with hope for the future has made it a booming business. A 2005 Gallup poll found that 41% of people believe in extra-sensory perception – the ability to use a sense beyond the known five senses.

Working from home as a psychic reader is one method of making money on the internet. While you can work any time, stay at home moms and insomniacs can work the midnight hours available in the psychic industry to earn extra income. While online psychic readings might be lucrative, a full time salary might be difficult to earn and would not have taxes taken out or health benefits.

It is fairly easy to get started in psychic reading. Companies hire psychics as independent contractors. They have to have computers and web cams accessible twenty-four hours a day to provide psychic readings. Psychics use various mediums, such as tarot cards, numerology, and astrology. To be successful and considered a legitimate psychic, you need to perfect your ability in one particular medium.

A successful psychic, you need to specialize in one medium, becoming an expert in that medium. You can get this information either from another psychic or from library research. Not having enough expertise in your chosen medium can lead to embarrassment and loss of credibility.

Do you have to have psychic ability to work as a psychic? Not necessarily. Most problems of people who seek psychic help are pretty much universal, such as bad luck in love, relationship conflicts, money problems, or seeking communication with a dead relative. Just listening to their problems and making broad statements usually convince people that you are speaking the truth.

Something to consider when deciding whether or not to pass yourself off as a psychic is, how do you feel about passing yourself off as something you are not? Can you take money from someone under false pretenses? And, what about the negative energy you are creating? What if it comes back to you? The amount of money to be had needs to be weighed against all these things, as well as how your conscience will deal with it.

The true problem is, can you deliberately represent yourself as something you are not and mislead people? The fact of the matter is that people use psychic information to make life altering choices. This puts a level of accountability on the psychic to be responsible in the information given. As the adage states, what goes around comes around. False psychic readings can be dangerous endeavors that could bring the negative energy you send out back to you. The amount of money you can make in the psychic world should be weighed against your principles and reluctance of paying for it later.

Everyone should have the responsibility of their own lives and actions. However, quick money and the easy way out are the driving force in many people’s lives.
